SuDs and SAB - Another Approval

kPa have just secured another SAB approval for sustainable drainage at a property in Gowerton from City & County of Swansea. SuDs means sustainable drainage systems. Sustainable drainage systems are a collection of water management practices that aim to align modern drainage systems with natural water processes. SuDS efforts make urban drainage systems more compatible with components of the natural water cycle such as storm surge overflows, soil percolation, and bio-filtration.

We start with rainfall data from 'UC Centre for Ecology and Hydrology' for the catchment area and assess the ground conditions on every site with infiltration tests. Infiltration can be shallow or recently we needed deep borehole infiltration.

We then design robust surface water management systems to ensure that the systems will work in practice for peak rainfall intensities. Ideally surface water is disposed on site using rain gardens, swales or other such features.

Sometimes surface water needs to leave site and we need to deal with and get permission from the local authority and statutory drainage undertakers for the area. kPa have been undertaking surface water assessment and drainage designs for over 10years. The end result can be all enhancing.
